Hyakuna Garan is a beautiful gem, slightly quirky yet delightful. Set off a cliff (the lobby is on the 3rd level), the cliff face is lushly landscaped with trees and plants growing among a few large Ghibli-esque statues. The public areas are wonderful with glass panels allowing viewing of the "Ghibli" landscape on the cliff side and offering open views of the ocean on the other side. The resort is carefully built around mature banyan trees and is entirely constructed out of natural wood, limestone and marble. The open air baths are a major delight - very private with the outdoor bath, great views of the sea and deck chairs for restful and quiet contemplation. Each bath pavilion is individually named, with the Kanji character for "Hermitage" which is both quaint and apt. The food is excellent - the intricate Kaiseki style dinners are the highlight of the day. Hyakuna has staff speaking fluent English which is a major convenience for foreign guests. We hardly ventured out of the resort during the 3 days there. Overall we appreciated the peace, quiet and solitude - even though the resort was probably well booked during our stay.

Everything. The journey/drive to Hyakunagaran from the airport. From entering the carpark, the welcoming staff, the reception and the 86sqm room with 2x queen size bed each right up to the roof top bath. These are the best physical spaces we did not expect (booked with only limited info). Importantly both wife and I were so relaxed that we will be back.

Extremely friendly staff and a very pleasant stay in general. The rooms are nice and everything is clean and spacious. The staff really tries everything to realise your wishes. Proper 5 star service. The little remote area protects you from bigger tourism groups and there is a nice cafe just next to the hotel in the hills.

We travel frequently & have stayed at many accommodations. This is up there with the best. Location overlooking the ocean. Large room with balcony is excellent. Bathroom with ocean views. Private rooftop bath area was unique. Staff so helpful. Food amazing.
